Jerelle Okoro played down his red-hot form and instead praised his team-mates following the dramatic 89-88 win at Worcester on Friday night.
Okoro top scored with 21 points on the night, following on from last Sunday’s effort of 24 points in the win over Surrey which earned him a place in the BBL All Star Team of the Week.
It was his third straight game of 20+ points, but the Brit typically pointed to the team’s contribution to his personal achievements.
He said: “It’s amazing but it’s the team. I say this all the time, the team gives you confidence, they give you the support.
“There are five warriors on the court and we’re all battling for the same thing and we do it every week, and it’s only now that we’re starting to click and understand what we need to do to win.
“The team come to me, they talk to me. If I had a mic on me you would understand. A lot of the time I’m effing and blinding and these guys are like stay focused, get in the rhythm. I am an energy player, and the defence know that they need me to play hard.”
The Giants trailed by seven points with just 37 seconds left, but two three-pointers from Anastasios Traianos and a missed free-throw by the Wolves meant they were within two, and in possession, with seven seconds on the clock.
Okoro added: “I was like ‘Jerelle, get ready because it can come to you.’ And when it went to Mo, and he leaned out, and it went in, I was ecstatic. I was over the moon. I’m still excited now! I’m going to need to take something to calm down, I’m really happy with this win.
“I don’t think it’s over til the fat woman sings. I’m going throughout. We all fought to the absolute last second.”
