Crosfields came within a whisker of gaining their first point of the season, away at fourth placed Croft. The spirit in the Crosfields camp was high and they were well committed for the whole game.
After going 2-0 down in the first half Crosfields conceded a soft third goal early on in the second but it was only a slight hiccup in what was a brilliant performance. Crosfields started to dominate the game and made a few chances which were saved. Goo defending kept the Croft strikers quiet and Crosfields got their reward when substitute midfielder Josh Hill whacked the ball into the back of the net to pull the score back to 3-1. With more confidence running through the team they started to carve open the Croft defence. Mark Sherlock created a few chances with free kicks and corners and he himself scored a wonderful solo goal.
After beating at least four men Sherlock scored with his right foot from an acute angle. In the dying stages both teams created chances and Anoush Mahmoudzadeh was through on the Croft goalkeeper when the referee blew his whistle for full time. If Crosfields perform like this week in week out they may be able to get some points before the end of the season. The full time score at Peel Hall Park was Croft 3, Crosfields 2.
