Description –

Surrey Sports Park is a £35m sports facility located in Guilford, Surrey. The park has a 50m swimming pool, three sports halls, a squash centre, fitness facilities, outdoor and indoor tennis courts, floodlit artificial pitches and a climbing centre.

The park also has an indoor arena, which has been the home of British Basketball League side, Surrey Scorchers, since their move from the Guilford Spectrum in 2010. It has a capacity of 1,000, although the highest attendance that the Scorchers can have is 878.

Around the ground –

There are several pubs and restaurants within walking distance of the arena. The Bench Sports Bar is located within the Surrey Sports Park area, while Ask Italian is just over one mile away. Both locations serve a range of food and drink, while there is also a Starbucks in the park.

Aside from food and drink, the park has a range of activities including tennis, squash, and climbing. In addition, the historic Guilford Castle is little over two miles from the venue.

Getting there –

By Car: Guildford is 30 miles south-west of London, on the A3 London-Portsmouth road. If approaching from London or the M25 (Junction 10), remain on the bypass (A3) until you reach the exit signed to the Cathedral and University. At the roundabout take the third exit signposted Royal Surrey County Hospital and University, Manor Park. Simply follow the signs to the Royal Surrey County Hospital for approximately a mile, and approach Surrey Sports Park on the left. Turn left at the traffic lights onto Richard Meyjes Road, which leads to the entrance of Surrey Sports Park.

Surrey Sports Park has two car parks available to members and guests using our facilities from 06.00 – 23.30, weekdays and weekends. Visitors are able to park for up to three hours, free of charge. In total, there are 353 spaces. There is also a third car park by the nursery, but this is reserved specifically for University permit holders.

By train: Guildford is on the main line between London Waterloo and Portsmouth. Half-hourly train services run from Guildford to Waterloo, with journey times of approximately 40 minutes. The station is approximately a 20-25-minute walk.

Records –

The Scorchers regularly sell-out in their annual New Year’s game. Most recently, they achieved their 878 capacity against the London City Royals.
