Earlier this year, I made a decision to approach a young graphic designer on Twitter.
I had seen quite a few edits from a range of people in sports graphic design space and thought it might be a nice addition to our offering.
Reviewing that space too, you notice that quite a few people have their work stolen or asked to do things for free.
While we weren’t paying an awful lot, it gave Ben Roberts the chance to showcase his work to a wider audience and get payment for the work he did.
So I was delighted last week to receive a message from Ben to let me know he had landed a full time job in the digital marketing space, in part thanks to the work he had done for both LoveRugbyLeague.com & JDG Media.
You can see some examples of his work in this blogpost, which gives some context behind the work I got Ben to do this year to help raise the profile of players in rugby league through our channels.
Good luck to Ben at AET Turbos

Job opportunity
You may have seen on my Twitter recently that we’re looking for a sports journalist to work across two of our sites at Planet Sport, Love Rugby League and TeamTALK.
Initially freelance, it would become full-time early in the New Year.
- Sourcing and writing stories for both Love RL and TeamTalk
- Uploading to the respective websites and ensuring the appropriate SEO guidelines are followed
- Assistance with social media management on Love RL
- Working match days to ensure both sites are prominent
- Contribute to driving traffic and visitor numbers up on both sites
Drop me an email at james@loverugbyleague.com if you’re interested.
