Description –
The University of Worcester Arena is a multi-purpose sports arena in Worcester, England. It is the home of British Basketball League side Worcester Wolves and was opened in 2013, costing approximately £15m to build.
The stadium is recognised as being a centre of excellence for disability sports and has an official capacity of 2,000.
Around the ground –
There are several pubs and restaurants within walking distance of the arena. The Farriers Arms and Ye Olde Talbot are all within walking distance and offer a range of food and drink, while The Anchor Inn provides outdoor seating.
Aside from food and drink, Worcester Woods Country Park and Gheluvelt Park provide picturesque walks through beautiful forests, while the Tudor House Museum provides a cultured experience for all to enjoy.
Getting there –
By car: Exit the M5 at junction 7, taking the A44 exit to Worcester. Follow the A4440, before turning right onto Malvern Road at the third roundabout. Cross the next roundabout onto Bromwich Road and follow the A449, before going straight at the next junction, onto the A44. Take the next left onto Hylton Road; the University of Worcester Arena will be on your left.
The Arena has a dedicated car park, accessed via the Arena entrance on Hylton Road where spectators can park for £3 per evening. In the event this car park is full, visitors are advised to park in the nearby University of Worcester car park. Directions to car parks for Arena events are also signposted throughout the city. There is a drop-off zone located in Homebase (immediately next to the arena) and ample parking for disabled visitors on the Arena site.
By train: The nearest station to the ground is Worcester Shrub Hill, which is little over two miles from the arena. This can be accessed by either bus or walking, while Worcester Foregate Street Train Station is also around a 10-15-minute drive or taxi away.
