Crosfields had a good game against Newton but went down 5-1. Crosfields didn’t deserve to concede as many as they did and the score really was flattering for Newton.
In the first half Crosfields could have got back into the game. Substitute Josh Grimward missed a penalty after Nick Hamblett had been brought down in the box. He struck well but it went wide, shaving the outside of the post on its way. He redeemed himself later on though when he scored a penalty after Hamblett had been brought down again. Good defending and goalkeeping from Crosfields kept the score down.
Stuart Hitchen making two brilliant one handed saves and captain for the night James Gordon cleared two off the goal line after Hitchen had been beaten. Crosfields were missing two first team regulars in Daniel French (hamstring injury) and Mark Sherlock (unavailable) but they fought bravely. Their next game is in two weeks time against Bruche and lets hope they are as fired up for that one as they were this. Final score was Crosfields 1, Newton 5.
