Crosfields lost this sometimes badly tempered cup game 6-1 although yet again the score line did not reflect on the Crosfields performance. After a relatively good first half Crosfields exploded in the second half with winger James Gordon and midfielder Anoush Mahmoudzadeh running the slow Peel Hall defence ragged.
A few good runs down the left by Gordon created goalmouth scrambles and good chances that were more often than not wasted. 4-0 down at half time Crosfields had to pile men forward and after chances for Craig Anthony and Mahmoudzadeh, the tall midfield eventually pulled a goal back. But as Crosfields pushed men forward they left gaps in the already weak defence and they were punished twice. Peel Hall had a few goals disallowed for offside and keeper Hitchen saved Crosfields a couple of times but they were luck to escape with a win.
Don’t forget it was only a cup game but if Crosfields play like they did in the second half of this game victories could soon be on the horizon. Crosfields, still without a win or even a draw since they formed in July, can look up from this performance and maybe in the near future their players may be given a boost. The final score didn’t really matter in this cup game on a very muddy pitch in Padgate but it ended Peel Hall 6, Crosfields 1.
